What this is

HK Register turns Hong Kong's published company register and licence lists into Excel and CSV files you can use directly. The Government already publishes this data, but it is spread across departments in inconsistent formats. We compile it daily, classify it by district, and verify coverage — so you don't have to.

Who runs it

This site is operated by Making Media Limited (Omago), a company registered in Hong Kong. We operate under our own name: if the data is wrong, or you want to question a source, you can email info@hkregister.com and hold someone to it. That is deliberate — most sites in this category do not disclose who runs them.

Why it exists

We needed this data ourselves and found the public version hard to use: inconsistent file formats, no district breakdown, no monthly history, and no easy way to check whether it was complete. Having built it, we made it public.

How it works

The system fetches the Government's latest published files daily, loads them into a database, and outputs Excel slices by month and by the 18 districts. Register coverage is reconciled against the Companies Registry's own published statistics, and the current figure is shown on the homepage. The methodology page has the detail.

What we don't offer

Directors, shareholders, contact details and industry classification are not open data. We do not provide them, and no vendor can lawfully supply them in bulk. Dissolved companies are not in the register data. If a service claims otherwise, check where its data comes from.

Not a government site

This is an independent third-party service — not a government website and not endorsed by the Government. The official record is the Companies Registry at cr.gov.hk.
